In line with the principle of “not allowing contaminated water to leak,” impermeable walls are installed on the ocean side to prevent groundwater that might be contaminated from flowing into the sea and adversely impacting the environment. This initiative consists of installing steel walls deep in the earth on the ocean side of Units 1 to 4, preventing groundwater from entering the sea.
