International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to Conduct 4th Review

Sep 20, 2018

TEPCO announced that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has agreed to conduct its fourth review of ongoing efforts to decommission the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station from November 5 to 13.

TEPCO is currently carrying out decommissioning work under its Mid-and-Long-Term Roadmap Towards Decommissioning of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station plan, which the company revised on September 26, 2017.

An investigation team comprising IAEA personnel and outside experts will examine documents as well as visit the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station for the review.

The Japanese government has requested the review to hear the IAEA’s assessment and advice regarding ongoing decommissioning efforts and related issues faced by TEPCO. Past reviews were conducted in April 2013, November 2013 and February 2015.
