Submission of Reports about the study regarding current earthquake-proof safety and reinforcement of reactor buildings at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station to Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (2)
On April 13, 2011, we received a written instruction (*) "Collection of
report pursuant to the Provisions of Article 67, paragraph 1 of the Act on
Regulation of Nuclear Source Materials, Nuclear Fuel Materials and
Reactors" from Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency, Ministry of Economy,
Trade and Industry. We implemented study regarding current earthquake-
proof safety and reinforcement of reactor building for Unit1 and 4 at
Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, and summarized the results. On
May 28, 2011, we reported the result to the Agency.
(Already announced on April 13, 2011 and on May 28, 2011)

Thereafter, based on the instruction, we implemented study regarding
current earthquake-proof safety and reinforcement of reactor building for
Unit3 at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, and summarized the
results. Hence we announce that we reported to the Agency today.

                              Required Items

·Results of seismic safety assessments, using the seismic ground
motion of a possible future earthquake, implemented on the reactor
buildings that are indirectly supporting structures of the primary
containment vessels, the reactor pressure vessels and the spent fuel
storage pools, which are the system, structure and components important
to seismic safety at Fukushima Dai-ichi Nuclear Power Station.

·Results of an examination of measures such as engineering works
for seismic reinforcement on sections that seismic safety may not be able
to be secured for under the current state of the reactor building.
