Status of TEPCO's Nuclear Power Stations after the Tohoku-Chihou-Taiheiyou-Oki Earthquake (Daily Report as of 4:00 PM, June 27)

Due to the Tohoku-Chihou-Taiheiyou-Oki Earthquake which occurred on March 11, 2011, TEPCO's facilities including our nuclear power stations have been severely damaged. We deeply apologize for the anxiety and inconvenience caused.
With regard to the accident at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, on April 17, 2011, we have compiled the roadmap towards restoration from the accident and on July 19 we accomplished the Step1 target "Radiation dose is in steady decline". Then on December 16 we confirmed the accomplishment of the Step 2 target "Release of radioactive materials is under control and radiation doses are being significantly held down".
In addition, on December 21, 2011, we have compiled the "Mid-to-long-Term Roadmap toward the Decommissioning of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Units 1-4, TEPCO".
In addition to the maintenance of the plant's stable condition, we will implement Mid-to-Long Term countermeasures towards the decommissioning of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Units 1-4 to enable evacuees to return to their homes as soon as possible and reduce the anxiety of the people in Fukushima and the whole nation as soon as possible.

Below is the status of TEPCO's nuclear power stations (Fukushima Daiichi and Fukushima Daini).

[Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station]
·Unit 1 to 4: Abolishment (April 19, 2012)
·Unit 5 to 6: Outage due to regular inspections before the earthquake

-At 10:00 AM on June 26, we started transferring the accumulated water in Unit 6 Turbine Building basement to the temporary tank. At 4:00 PM on the same day, we stopped transferring. We started transferring at 10:00 AM on June 27, and we stopped transferring at 4:00 PM on the same day.

-At 10:48 PM on June 27, the amount of the nitrogen gas injection into PCV was adjusted from approx. 8m3/h to 0 m3/h, in order to keep the balance between the amount of the nitrogen gas injection into Unit 3 RPV and PCV and the amount of emission from PCV gas control system. The nitrogen gas injection into RPV is being continuously conducted at the amount of approx. 16 m3/h,

-At 2:01 PM on June 27, within the Unit 2 spent fuel pool alternative cooling system, we confirmed that the alarm indicating an abnormality at Main Anti-Earthquake Building. At 2:22 PM, the alarm indicating "large difference in primary water flow" went off, and we confirmed that the cooling pump (A) in operation stopped automatically by the web camera at Main Anti-Earthquake Building. At 2:40 PM, we confirmed that there was no leak from the system on site. Since we estimated that the water temperature of the spent fuel pool was 22.9°C and the temperature rising rate was at approx. 0.24 °C/h when the system was stopped, there was no problem on the pool water temperature management. As a result of the investigation, we assumed that the error alarm indicating "large difference in primary water flow" went off due to the short circuit of the cable by mistake during the installation work of the flowmeter digital recorder on site. We will confirm the integrity of the flowmeter, etc., and restart the cooling operation at the spent fuel pool.

·Unit 1 to 4: Shutdown due to the earthquake

-The monitoring posts (total 7: No. 1-7) located at the power station site boundary will be under inspection from June 27. The inspection will be conducted one by one, the measurement and confirmation will be conducted utilizing the other 6 monitoring posts.
