Power Supply and Demand Outlook in This Summer and Measures(5th Release)
In order to continue to avoid planned blackouts, we will continue our
efforts to maintain supply capacity and request for conserving electricity.

We decided to announce a detailed supply and demand outlook of every week
based on recent power demand and supply conditions for a term of
"Restriction of Electricity use" based on Article 27 of the Electricity
business act (from July 1 to September 22) reflecting recent energy demand
and supply conditions.

Demand and supply outlook of each weeks in July and August as follows:

<Demand and Supply outlook of each weeks in July and August>

Key changes after the July 1st report
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused, but appreciate your corporation to save power usage, END <(Reference)Supply and demand outlook at the end of July and August> (Unit:GW)
(Reference)Supply and demand outlook at the end of July and August
* Maximum peak load for the last summer was recorded 59.99 GW (July 23rd). Estimated peak demand of 55 GW for this summer is 5GW lower than that of least year. This incorporates the saving of electricity from "Outline of Countermeasures for Power Supply and Demand during summertime" and restoration from decrease of production due to the quake. * We would like to supply maximum of 1.4GW to Tohoku Electric Power Company by thoroughly implementing both supply and demand countermeasures in order to support balance of demand and supply in the Tohoku area, which suffered severe damage from the quake. The supply capacity in this regard will be 55.4GW at the end of July, and 54.2GW at the end of August. * Pumped Storage Hydro of 6,500MW is incorporated in this outlook. In case of severe demand and supply balance conditions, storage amount of upper dam and demand trend at that moment will be taken in account and Pumped Storage Hydro capacity will be carefully examined and reflected.
