Status of the Inspection and Restoration Works Performed after the Niigata-Chuetsu-Oki Earthquake (as of January 7)
We are announcing the status of major inspections and restoration works and nonconformances 
at TEPCO's Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station after the Niigata-Chuetsu-Oki Earthquake. 

Inspection/Restoration Status

 ◇ Inspection and restoration completed between December 25, 2009 to January 7, 2010 
    (Completed on the following date) 

   - Unit 1 Main transformer inspection (Carrying in and installation work):
       December 25, 2009  
   - Unit 1 House transformer inspection (Carrying in and installation work):
       December 25, 2009
   - Unit 1 Excitation transformer inspection (Carrying in and installation work):
       December 25, 2009
   - Unit 5 Main transformer inspection (Carrying in and installation work):
       December 25, 2009
   - Unit 5 House transformer inspection (Carrying in and installation work):
       December 25, 2009
   - Unit 5 Excitation transformer inspection (Carrying in and installation work):

   - Unit 7 General integration inspection:

Chuetsu-Oki Earthquake

 Based on the "Public Announcement Regarding Nonconformance Found in the Inspection and 
 Restoration Works Performed after the Niigata-Chuetsu-Oki Earthquake", the Tokyo Electric 
 Power Company, Incorporated (TEPCO) provides this announcement containing incidents 
 information reported from December 24, 2009 to January 6, 2010.

◇ Other Findings - Unit 6 had been shut down since December 26, 2009 in order to investigate the cause of the malfunction in the control rod position detector found on December 23, 2009. The investigation and restoration was completed and the unit was restarted on January 6, 2010. In order to enhance the reliability of relevant position detectors, manufacturing process such as coil connection and insulation for the position detectors that will be replaced during the next regular outage will be executed based on a revised procedure that reflects lessons learned from this incident.
