Performing a Series of Functional Tests for the Entire Plant of the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station Unit No.6 after the Niigata-Chuetsu-Oki Earthquake (Final evaluation of functional tests for the entire plant)
The Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station Unit No.6 (ABWR: 1,356MW) had been shut
down since the Niigata-Chuetsu-Oki Earthquake occurred on July 16, 2007. On August 25,
2009, we have started a series of functional tests for the entire plant, and have
performed pre-planned tests.

The unit began generating power on August 31, and is keeping constant operation at
rated thermal output from September 10. Monitoring the operating status of the plant
continuously, we have confirmed that the final evaluation of functional tests for the
entire plant are satisfactory by September 28, 2009.

Subsequently, we will compile the evaluation at each stage, and submit the evaluation
report regarding functional tests for the entire plant of the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa
Nuclear Power Station Unit No.6 to the Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency (NISA) of
the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
