The Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station Unit No.6 (ABWR: 1,356MW) had been shut 
down since the Niigata-Chuetsu-Oki Earthquake occurred on July 16, 2007.  On August 25, 
2009, we started a series of functional tests for the entire plant, and are performing 
pre-planned tests. 

The unit began generating power on August 31, and reached 100% rated electric output 
at 10:35 a.m. on September 10, 2009. We have confirmed operating status to be 
satisfactory 4:00 p.m. on the same day.  

We will raise the power until reaching constant operation at rated thermal output, 
after which we will perform pre-planned tests carefully.  Constant operation at rated 
thermal output is likely to lead to an electric output of about 1,400 MW.

We will disclose test evaluation results accordingly.  

* "Constant Operation at Rated Thermal Output": 
  "Constant Operation at Rated Thermal Output" is an operational mode in which a unit 
  is operated with the reactor thermal output being kept constant at 100%. 
  The Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station has been operating all its units at 
  constant operation at rated thermal output since 2002, after receiving confirmation 
  from the Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and 
  Industry on the validity of safety evaluation of generation facilities during such 
  operational mode.  Unit No.6 had been operating in constant operation at rated thermal 
  output since July 4, 2003.
