Press Release (Jun 02,2009)
Performing a Series of Functional Tests for the Entire Plant of the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station Unit No.7 after the Niigata-Chuetsu-Oki Earthquake (Raising generating power to approx. 100% of the rated output)
The Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station Unit No.7 (ABWR: 1,356MW) had been shut down since
the Niigata-Chuetsu-Oki Earthquake occurred on July 16, 2007. On May 8, 2009, we started a
series of functional tests for the entire plant, and are performing the pre-planned tests.

Keeping the generating power at approx. 75% of the rated output, we have performed various
pre-planned tests by 2:30 p.m. of June 1, 2009, and confirmed these results to be satisfactory.

Based on these results of the tests, we will start the operation of raising generating power
as soon as everything is ready today. After raising generating power from approx. 75% to approx.
100% of the rated output, we will perform the pre-planned tests carefully.

We will disclose test evaluation results accordingly.
